About Me
Hi! I am a retired R.N., author, fiber artist, and CZT (Certified Zentangle® Teacher) in Anchorage, Alaska. I have been involved with arts and crafts my whole life. I love learning, teaching, and passing on my knowledge to my students! I have taught locker hooking (an old rug hooking technique www.lockerhooking.com ) and fabric crochet at Michael's Arts & Craft Store, Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts, and Anchorage schools for many years. In 2014, I discovered Zentangle® and immediately fell in love with it and knew I wanted to teach it! Within a few months, I was in Providence, Rhode Island where I was personally trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of Zentangle® (a registered trademark owned by Zentangle® Inc). I am very passionate about Zentangle® and actively teach Zentangle® art classes throughout Alaska and online.. If you're ever in Anchorage, come say hi and take a class with me!
A personal note...
I have struggled with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks all my life (Agoraphobia) and stress-related illnesses. Learning the Zentangle® Method™, has given "my mind" a place to go to, where I can relax and deal with stress. That is just one of the benefits! Since teaching the Zentangle® Method™, I have learned that it is not necessarily about the art (the outcome), although the art is always beautiful. But it is more about enjoying the "process" of getting there...of relaxing and enjoying those "mindful moments" without stress. I now find that as soon as I put pen to paper, I go into a relaxed state and a sense of peace...with no worries. I can do this anytime and anywhere and that is a blessing. I am grateful for Zentangle®! It has changed my life. It continually teaches me valuable life lessons, which I pass onto my students.
